Your preschoolers will yell “Yippee!” when they see the playful toy in this entertaining ABC Craft! Though a real yo-yo requires some practice (and a few tangled strings), your child will have this letter Y craft mastered in minutes!

Here’s What You’ll Need

Instructions for Assembling Your Lowercase Y Craft

  1. Print the Y Is for Yo-yo Craft templates.
  2. Cut out the templates and trace the letter Y and the yo-yo pieces onto card stock.
  3. Cut out the letter Y and yo-yo pieces.
  4. Glue the letter Y onto a full sheet of card stock (we used yellow, but you can use any color you like).
  5. To assemble the yo-yo, glue the white string compartment between the yo-yo front and back pieces, off-setting the pieces slightly so that all the layers show on the right side of the yo-yo as shown in the example.
  6. Glue the blue decorative circle onto the front of the yo-yo.
  7. Affix the star to the blue decorative circle.
  8. Position the string and the yo-yo beneath the right side of the letter Y as shown in the example and glue in place.

I Love these fun crafts!

I just print them on reg. paper, and use carbon paper, then using a pencil I trace onto construction paper. Then the kids cut out. Less cutting. We love this craft.

Great tip, Debbie, and thank you for sharing it! That would minimize the cutting necessary and make the prep work faster.
